Back to the west in Illinois, there's showers and embedded thunderstorms on radar and moving to the east-northeast. The showers/storms are along a stationary front that will become a cold front and move southeast and bring an end to our very warm weather.
The Short Term forecast for the next 6 hours, Showers and thunderstorms will continue to increase in coverage and head into the state from northwest to southeast through the afternoon hours. There could also be a few isolated showers and embedded storms that develop during the mid-afternoon hours as FutureCast shows below. Winds will also be breezy at times, gusting up to 25 mph. Temperatures will continue to rise and should top off from the mid 70s north, to the upper 70s to near 80s central, and upper 70s to lower 80s south.
