Today's topic for Hurricane Preparedness Week is "Develop an Evacuation Plan". One of the first things you will need to find out is whether or not you live in an storm surge evacuation area. If you do live in one of the zone areas, the next thing is where will you go and how will you get there. Many coastal areas have set evacuation routes to keep traffic flowing as smooth as possible. You do not need to travel long distances to evacuate, especially if you have family or friends who do not live in an evacuation zone. Also with evacuations, you need to account for your pets as well, because most storm shelters do not accept pets, so be sure to have a plan of action ready. The following links shows maps of evacuation zones and national storm surge maps. Tuesday's topic will be on "Secure an Insurance Check-Up".
